Painting

I undertake all types of internal and external painting. Ask me about special coating systems for fire protection (I am qualified to use Crown Class 0 fire retardant coatings), metal work and other specialist applications. I am Crown Tradelink trained and qualified for Crown Decorative Finishes and can match special colours.

Paper hanging

One of my special areas of expertise, I have been papering interiors new and old since 1981. I work with all widths and all price levels from budget value to sumptuous Sanderson. Class 0 fire retardant wall papers are also available.

Special paint finishes

This is where my creative side kicks in. All these examples are special effect finishes. Finishes like these can cost up to 50% less than plaster finishes and, because they are solvent free, they are environmentally friendly too.

I am an approved applicator of Oikos and Impex special finishes.

(1) Pallas looks and feels silky in a wide range of brilliant colours plus some metallic finishes. Some can be used externally. (2) Multidecor acrylic paint finishes when applied skillfully give a myriad of effects. The example shown is the Alonato effect. (3-5) Metallic finishes - contrasting colours with a golden finish give walls a look of importance and value. Thousands of tiny drops of paint are broken by the passing of the trowel which transform into a mix of colour with golden reflexes.

Italian polished plaster (by Oikos) & Lime based plaster (by Impex)

There aren’t many craftsmen that can do this - let alone have the training and support from the manufacturer. If you are looking for a beautiful marble like finish then polished plaster is something special. It is also a great alternative for tiles in a kitchen or bathroom. It is hardwearing, vapour permeable and ideal for heavy traffic areas such as hallways. It’s washable and can be colour matched to carpets and curtains. Where necessary it can also be waterproofed.

I could talk all day about these amazing finishes as there are so many applications!

(1) Marmorino Naturale is a traditional and prestigious finish. The block effect shown is a plain finish. A polished finish is also available. (2) This classic trowel effect from the 1700s is an ultra smooth finish with distinctive marble like markings. As you can see some beautiful colours can be achieved. (3-4) A typical application of Coccio Pesto – a lime based plaster by Impex which is essentially a mineral composition. Resistant to mould and bacteria, it has been used here with waterproofing. (5) A typical application of Coccio Antico- a marble dust and terracotta grain based plaster by Oikos which is essentially a mineral composition. Resistant to mould and bacteria, it can be waterproofed and used in the same manner as the Coccio Pesto in images 3 and 4. (6) Marmorino Venezia Damescato effect comes in four basic colours; white, red, green, yellow and can be further coloured using a colour wash of Idrow wax as in example above. (7) Marmorino Venezia Bocciardato effect. Again could be colour washed with Idrow wax or Velatura. (8) Raffaello Decor Stucco Madreperlato effect. Metallic finished Italian polished plaster gives a room a feeling of warmth or coolness as desired. (9) The Italian polished plasters can also be overlaid and inlaid for stunning contrasts. To create a picture as the two actors masks seen in my gallery or perhaps a company name and logo. (10) Marmorino Tintereto. Basically Marmorino with Gold, Siler, and Bronze flecks which can then be tinted to any colour you would like. (11) An effect using different shades of Italian polished plaster. (12) The use of plasters to create decorative pieces of work. I undertake commissions.

Tiling & Flooring

Recreate period charm with authentic Victorian tiling. Floors walls, traditional and modern. I am familiar with Amtico and Karndean plus heavy duty flooring for all sorts of applications. Electric under floor heating can also be added as part of a project.

Coving

Modern and traditional, coving is one of those finishing touches that is the icing on cake for any home. I can apply inset panels, plaster and moulded coving.
